Ok, first avocado brownies and now spinach & chocolate cupcakes?! What am I thinking, right? Except that it totally works. These cupcakes are light, fluffy, sweet and you just wouldn’t know there is spinach in there. But spinach there is… 4 CUPS of the stuff! 5 if you add some to the icing. These…
Orange soups are the best. Hands down. I enjoy a good green soup (especially if it involves broccoli and stilton or pea and ham). I think a fresh red sugar free tomato soup is delightful. But orange soups. YUM. My squash and apple soup is still a firm favourite in our house, and I’m looking…
I’ve baked my way through my fair share of technical challenges from the Great British Bake Off. I did every single technical challenge from the 2014 series, and thoroughly enjoyed it, but giving up sugar a few months later changed my attitude towards attempting the bakes! I made a few sugar free versions of some…
My kids have been in the kitchen with me since they were babies. At first, they would be in a high chair with a wooden spoon and a pot or tub, banging and stirring and gurgling as I cooked. They weren’t doing much, perhaps, but they were enjoying the kitchen, immersed in its smells and…
Shortbread? Always sweet, right? Wrong. Turns out, a savoury version is not just every bit as nice, it’s better. Waaay better. Soft, crumbly, creamy and oh-so-more-ish. I’m warning you now. It’s hard to stop eating these. They are just so good! And it gets better… …they are made with only 3 ingredients (plus salt, and…
When I was a teenager at home and my parents would go out for a date night or a church group they were part of, I would always beg ask my mum to buy the same thing for me to bake for dinner for my sister and I: breaded goat’s cheese coins. God, they were…

First recipe has sugar in it hardly sugar free is it.
Hi Phil, the recipe is clearly marked as “low sugar” since it contains a little (optional) rice syrup or raw honey. If you click through to the recipe, you will see that I state that this adds sugar and is an optional ingredient (making it possible for it to have no added sugar at all), although it comes out as less than 2g (1/2 teaspoon) free sugar per muffin, so it is definitely not high in sugar if you are concerned about that. Please do feel free to try it without the syrup, it is naturally quite sweet and tasty as is!
This website aims to provide recipes for families that help them stick to the recommended daily intake of free sugars from the World Health Organisation (3 teaspoons max for children, 6 teaspoons max for adults), so it is well within those parameters, and I decided not to title this post “my top 10 sugar free carrot recipes” for precisely the reason you pointed out. Hope that helps!
